Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

The ultra high-performance tyre that delivers shorter braking distances when it matters most

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is a high-performance tyre that delivers shorter braking distances and saves fuel.

Shorter braking distances on wet and dry
Greater fuel efficiency
High-performance handling

Shorter braking distances on wet and dry roads. Stop with confidence when split seconds count thanks to ActiveBraking technology, which increases tyre contact with the road as you brake. In tests against leading competitors, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 delivered three metres shorter braking on wet roads and two metres shorter on dry roads.*

Greater fuel efficiency. Goodyear’s FuelSaving Technology helps you cut fuel costs and CO2 emissions. A low-weight construction means the tyre requires less energy to roll, while the silica compound reduces heat generation.

High-performance handling. Get more from your high-powered car. The high-surface silica compound enhances grip, for confident handling on wet and dry roads. A stiff carcass structure increases steering precision when travelling at speed. Recently chosen as a factory-fitted tyre for the new Mercedes-Benz CLS.

Advantages:

Good performance on wet bracking
Fuel efficient
Excellent handling

Tyre description:

The ultra high-performance tire that delivers shorter braking distances when it matters most. Shorter braking distances on wet and dry. High-performance handling, greater fuel efficiency. We know that on the road a split second can mean the difference between an unfortunate accident and a lucky escape. Goodyear’s new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyre features our latest ActiveBraking Technology. Using innovative 3 dimensional block design within.

Feature:

ActiveBraking Technology:

Under braking conditions, each block is under higher load and the contact surface to the road increases. Crossed plies carcass structure.

Benefits:

Shorter braking distance on dry roads
Shorter braking distance on wet roads
Improved steering precision, handling and dry grip

Reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions TUV Claims 10% shorter braking distance on wet roads* 6% shorter braking distance on dry roads* 7% better rolling resistance* 3% better wet handling* * Compared to the average performance of 3 leading competitors. Braking distance on wet road from 80km/h to 20km/h.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

The ne thing with my car is the torque and how easy it is to get the wheels to lose traction. Coming from Michelin PS2 Sports I thought I would try out the Goodyear. One thing is obvious - the grip is immense. Way better than the PS2's which were quite old and maybe had hardened up a bit but the GY's were a fabulous choice and would definitely get again, just hope the Asymmetric 2 remains available. Don't drive much when wet but still better grip all round from these over the PS2's.

I was really impressed with these tyres, the volvo v60 D4 is a heavy car with 192bhp 400nm of torque. 235/40/18 Winter has been very wet and i would describe my driving style as quick, with moments of very fast! The grip in all weather conditions is sensational, both dry and wet there is no tyre slip even with a spirited drive. I have also tested the grip limits at low speeds around roundabouts and there is a lot more grip available than i thought there would be in the wet. Tyre life seems good after 4000km and i do mainly a mix of country lanes and dual carriage way day to day. I am very impressed and will buy these tyres again!
