Bridgestone Potenza S007 RFT

Bridgestone developed the Potenza S007 especially for high speed super sports vehicles, requiring extreme levels of lateral force due to their sporty setup. The innovative pattern features rigid pattern blocks for outstanding response and unleashed grip on dry surfaces. The wide outside tread in combination with specially tuned carcass construction provide maximum cornering grip, even under most severe load conditions.

Competitors:

Michelin Pilot Super Sport, Pirelli Pzero

Run Flat Technology

Run flat tyres for safer driving.

With regular tyres, a puncture generally means you lose steering control. It also puts you in added danger while changing the tyre on the roadside. With run flat tyres,* if your tyre gets punctured, there’s no sudden deflation – meaning you can continue driving safely.

This is because the tyre’s thicker sidewall is significantly reinforced and made from heat resistant rubber. It can safely carry the weight of your car for a short period, despite a total loss of air pressure.

Safety First

Even at a moderately high speed and over a long distance – typically 80 km/h for up to 80 km – your vehicle will remain stable and you’ll stay in control. So, you should make it to the next service station without needing to change the tyre. Another advantage is that there’s no need to carry a spare tyre – meaning less weight and more storage space.

While this is an important advance in safety, Bridgestone’s commitment to continuous improvement has now produced the next generation in run flat tyres. With a thinner side wall plus two new heat suppressing technologies that limit tyre distortion – Nano Pro-Tech™ compound and cooling fins – the result is significantly better ride comfort and safety.

Carry on driving after a puncture

With a reinforced, thicker sidewall, Bridgestone RFTs can safely carry the weight of a car for a short period. Meaning no loss of driving control or subsequent roadside tyre changes.

Discover the next generation in RFTs

The reinforced sidewall is engineered using Bridgestone’s new Nano Pro-Tech™ compound. This revolutionary rubber compound optimises the distribution of carbon molecules to minimise the friction between them. This means significantly less heat is generated, helping the tyre to hold its shape, even with a new thinner sidewall.

Stay cool and in control

Bridgestone’s next generation RFTs feature another significant improvement. To suppress heat generation on the outside of the tyre, cooling fins have been added. They disrupt the airflow and direct cool air downwards onto the towards the tyre’s surface. Again, this means less heat and a tyre that holds its shape when it has lost all air pressure.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

This is the second set of the same tyres, and yes they hold the road well. When you have 20 something inch of rubber on the road they can really hold there own. The Which magazine holds Bridgestone to high esteem.

Great tyres, good grip especially in wet, feel safe! Noise isn’t too crazy, hopefully get some decent mileage out of them

11.07.2020 from Pat
Much better in the wet than Dunlop tyres that were on the car.
